About the Ahwatukee Foothills area

Ahwatukee Foothills is a neighborhood nestled along the south and east sides of South Mountain.

Originally planned and developed as a retirement community, the area has become a more diverse mix of retirement, family living, and light commercial zones.

With three beautiful golf courses, loads of hiking, biking & horseback riding trails, 12 elementary schools, and a thriving small business community – Ahwatukee Foothills is currently home to over 83,000 folks, and continues to grow rapidly!

Ahwaukee Foothills covers the 85048 & 85045 zip codes and is bordered in the north by South Mountain, and to the east by I-10 highway and the 202 freeway to the south.

Sharing the South Mountain ridge as a border with South Mountain Village, Ahwatukee stretches from Tempe & Chandler on it’s east border following the South Mountain ridge to connect with Laveen Village in the west.

Families, young people, and active residents frequent the many beautiful public parks in the area including Pecos Park, Desert Foothills Park, Sun Ray Park, Mountain Vista Park, and the aptly named Ahwatukee Park. While golfers from all over find their way to the destination golf courses – Ahwatukee Lakes Golf Club, and Ahwatukee Country Club.
